The SKF NU314 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 70x150x35 mm, provides a separable support arrangement for high radial loads.
The SKF NU314 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing in the Explorer design with an optimised internal construction. The bearing has a bore of 70 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 35 mm. Designed as an open bearing, it is suitable for use in externally lubricated systems. The integrated polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers smoothly and facilitates low-friction rolling of the rolling elements.
This bearing accommodates high radial forces and typically functions as a non-locating bearing in bearing arrangements. The NU design allows the inner ring to be removed from both sides. This enables axial length changes of the shaft relative to the housing to be compensated for with low friction within the bearing itself.
This design is primarily used in bearing arrangements subject to thermal shaft expansion. The free axial movement serves to prevent mechanical stress between the inner and outer rings during operation.
The polyamide cage used in the bearing provides good elasticity and enables low-vibration operation within the permissible temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees. Furthermore, the cage’s low weight facilitates smooth start-up behaviour at varying speeds.
To ensure a precise fit, the bearing features dimensional accuracy in accordance with tolerance class Normal (P0/ABEC 1) as well as increased running accuracy of class P6 (ABEC 3). As the bearing is of an open design and the outer ring has no lubrication groove, the bearing housing must be sealed via the housing design and supplied with lubricant.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 35 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised main dimensions for single-row cylindrical roller bearings in this series. Before fitting, check that the shaft and housing bore are designed to accommodate these nominal dimensions.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows the inner ring to be moved axially in both directions and removed completely. The component therefore serves exclusively as a non-locating bearing and does not absorb any axial forces.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees. This range is essentially limited by the polyamide cage and the lubricant used. For applications within this range, the cage material offers reliable dimensional stability in continuous industrial operation.
The designation ECP refers to an optimised internal design combined with a roller-guided polyamide cage. This cage material absorbs shocks, operates quietly and reduces the mass of the rotating components compared with versions featuring a metal cage.
This rolling bearing has standard radial bearing clearance. The internal bearing clearance is designed for conventional fit conditions on the shaft and in the housing. If significant temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation, variants with increased bearing clearance may be required under certain circumstances.
As the design does not incorporate sealing washers, the surrounding housing structure protects the bearing from contamination. Grease or lubricating oil is supplied directly via the housing, as the outer ring does not have a separate lubrication bore.
