The 20204-TVP spherical roller bearing from FAG Wälzlager, measuring 20x47x14 mm, compensates for misalignment and withstands high radial loads.
The 20204 -TVP barrel roller bearing is a single-row, angular-contact roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. Thanks to its barrel-shaped rolling elements, this bearing automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. This FAG roller bearing has a cylindrical bore of 20 mm, an outer diameter of 47 mm and a width of 14 mm. Design engineers specifically use this type of bearing to accommodate high radial loads whilst maintaining a compact design.
This rolling bearing is primarily used where strong radial forces act on shafts and misalignment of the housing must be tolerated. Such installation scenarios frequently arise in general mechanical engineering, particularly with long shafts or flexible bearing housings. Because barrel bearings are narrower than double-row self-aligning roller bearings, they enable particularly space-saving designs. Furthermore, the fixed geometry of the inner ring with flanges ensures precise guidance of the rollers under dynamic loads.
The suffix ‘TVP’ indicates a polyamide cage. This material promotes quiet running and is suitable for an operating temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Manufactured to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, the bearing operates with a standard radial clearance. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, users can tailor the type of lubricant and external housing seals precisely to the operating conditions.
This roller bearing has a bore of 20 mm, an outside diameter of 47 mm and a width of 14 mm. Thanks to these standardised key dimensions, the 20x47x14 mm spherical roller bearing can be integrated precisely into existing designs. It is suitable for shaft mountings where compact dimensions are required.
The abbreviation TVP stands for a polyamide cage. This cage design guides the barrel-shaped rolling elements precisely, dampens running noise and keeps friction to a minimum. Compared with heavier metal cages, the polyamide cage reduces the moving mass, which has a positive effect on acceleration behaviour.
The permissible temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. This range is determined by the thermal properties of the polyamide cage. For applications in mechanical engineering, this range covers many common operating conditions, provided that the selected type of lubricant is specified for this temperature range.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance, which is designed for typical mounting conditions and moderate operating temperatures. The dimensional and running accuracy complies with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1. This means that this version of the FAG rolling bearing offers proven standard accuracy for industrial drive systems.
As an open bearing, this design does not feature integrated sealing washers. This allows the lubricant – whether grease or oil – to be selected freely to suit the specific application and replenished as required. The bearing housing therefore requires an external seal to prevent the ingress of dirt particles.
The single-row, barrel-shaped rollers run in a hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. This allows the roller set to adjust continuously in response to shaft deflection without causing harmful edge stresses. This helps to reduce premature wear and ensures a uniform force distribution under radial loads.
