The SKF 29444-e axial self-aligning roller bearing accommodates heavy axial loads and effectively compensates for misalignment with an outer diameter of 420 mm.
The SKF 29444-e axial self-aligning roller bearing is designed for demanding industrial applications where unidirectional axial forces predominate. Thanks to its angle-adjustable design, this rolling bearing compensates for misalignment between the shaft and the housing without compromising performance. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel, the component has a width of 122 mm and withstands mechanical stresses.
This axial self-aligning roller bearing is used where significant axial forces act on rotating shafts and deflection may occur at the same time. Typical applications include heavily loaded industrial gearboxes and vertical mountings. In addition to the primary axial forces, the bearing can also accommodate combined radial loads. The split design also facilitates assembly, as the shaft ring, housing ring and roller set can be positioned separately. A defined minimum axial load is required to ensure trouble-free operation.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the barrel-shaped rollers precisely and offers adequate strength whilst being lightweight. It withstands demanding environmental conditions as well as standard mineral or synthetic oil-based lubricants. In combination with the temperature-resistant standard roller bearing steel, the bearing is suitable for a wide thermal operating range from -30 to +200 °C. The open design allows targeted lubrication of the contact surfaces directly via the housing.
Designed to withstand very heavy axial forces, this roller bearing compensates for both static and dynamic misalignments. Thanks to the roller tracks arranged at an angle to the axis of rotation, it transmits not only axial forces but also proportional radial loads. The SKF version has an outer diameter of 420 mm and a width of 122 mm.
The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +200 °C. The thermal stability of the lubricant used is the determining factor for actual operation. The built-in sheet steel cage retains its dimensional stability and guiding properties throughout the entire temperature range.
A sheet steel cage combines high mechanical strength with low mass. It ensures reliable guidance of the rolling elements under dynamic loads and withstands fluctuating thermal conditions. It is also resistant to additives in industrial oils.
In addition to the main axial load, axial-thrust roller bearings also transmit moderate radial forces. The line of contact of the rolling elements runs at an angle to the shaft, which allows part of the radial forces to be supported. Nevertheless, there must always be a sufficient axial load to prevent the rollers from slipping.
The rings and rolling elements are made from tried-and-tested standard roller bearing steel. This material is characterised by high strength, dimensional stability and fatigue resistance under continuous load. In combination with the sheet steel cage, this results in a robust material combination for heavy-duty bearings.
