The FAG 53316 single-direction axial deep-groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 80 × 140 × 47.6 mm, accommodates high axial loads in one direction.
The 53316 axial deep-groove ball bearing is a separable rolling bearing designed for purely axial loads. Manufactured from standard bearing steel (100Cr6), the design accommodates an 80 mm shaft and supports single-direction axial forces in the housing. Thanks to the separate design of the shaft ring, housing ring and rolling element set, this FAG bearing can be fitted with ease. The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly at operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
This bearing is primarily used in bearing arrangements where heavy axial loads from a defined direction need to be accommodated. As pure axial bearings cannot accommodate radial forces, this component is always combined with a separate radial bearing in the design. The standard tolerance class P0/PN (equivalent to ABEC 1) meets the standard requirements in industrial mechanical engineering.
The bearing features a spherical housing washer. In conjunction with a separately available spherical washer, this design compensates for manufacturing-related misalignments or skew between the shaft and the housing surface. Please note during planning that the scope of supply comprises only the axial deep-groove ball bearing without a washer. To function correctly, the bearing requires a minimum axial load to ensure that the balls roll in the raceways without slippage.
The component has a bore of 80 mm for the shaft seat, an outside diameter of 140 mm and a height of 47.6 mm. These dimensions refer to the bearing unit alone. If a spherical washer is also used, the total installation height increases accordingly.
This roller bearing is designed for single-direction operation. It supports only axial forces acting on the shaft flange in an axial direction. The 533 series cannot accommodate radial forces. An additional radial bearing must therefore always be fitted to ensure full guidance of the rotating shaft.
The housing washer has a domed, spherical contact surface. When used in combination with a matching concave spherical washer, the bearing can align itself within the housing. This compensates for misalignments and angular errors caused by assembly tolerances or slight shaft deflection during operation.
No, the scope of supply includes only the axial deep-groove ball bearing itself, consisting of a shaft washer, a housing washer and a ball-guided sheet steel cage. If your design requires angular misalignment to be compensated for via the spherical housing surface, you must select the appropriate washer separately as an accessory.
Thanks to the hardened standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and the dimensionally stable sheet steel cage, the permissible temperature range is between -30 and +150 degrees Celsius. In practice, for actual continuous operation, it is primarily the lubricant used that determines the thermal operating limits of the bearing housing.
Inside, a sheet steel cage guides the balls along their circular path. This type of cage is characterised by its low weight, provides space for grease or lubricating oil, and withstands the mechanical stresses of continuous industrial use.
