The FAG 53309 axial deep-groove ball bearing accommodates unidirectional axial forces and has dimensions of 45 × 85 × 30.1 mm.
The FAG 53309 axial deep groove ball bearing is designed to accommodate purely axial loads in one direction. With an inside diameter of 45 mm, an outside diameter of 85 mm and a height of 30.1 mm, this bearing unit supports shafts axially in one direction. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, the component is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. Due to its design, this type of bearing must not be subjected to radial forces. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements at a uniform distance along the raceways.
This single-acting rolling bearing is used in designs where thrust forces act parallel to the axis of rotation. Typical applications include bearing arrangements that require single-sided axial guidance. As the assembly accommodates purely axial loads, in practice it is usually fitted in conjunction with a separate radial bearing. The operating temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees also allows for use in thermally demanding industrial environments.
This design is angle-adjustable. To compensate for misalignment or angular errors between the shaft and the housing, a suitable spherical washer is required. As the scope of delivery for this item comprises the axial bearing only, this washer must be ordered separately if required. The design complies with the specifications of tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. During assembly, clean, flat surfaces on the mating parts help to ensure even force transmission across the entire circumference.
The main dimensions are a 45 mm bore diameter for the shaft seat, an 85 mm outer diameter of the housing disc and a total height of 30.1 mm. These standardised dimensions facilitate precise fitting into corresponding housing bores and onto suitable shaft journals in mechanical and plant engineering.
As a single-direction axial bearing, this design accommodates only forces acting in the direction of the shaft axis. It supports the shaft on one side. Radial loads must not act on this bearing; therefore, an additional radial bearing should always be provided in the design.
Thanks to the spherical housing washer, the bearing allows for angular adjustment provided it is combined with a suitable shim. This arrangement compensates for misalignment between the housing seat and the shaft. The scope of supply comprises the bearing only, without any additional washers; these must be supplied separately if required.
FAG fits this roller bearing with a sheet steel cage. The cage guides the rolling elements along the raceway and prevents them from coming into contact with one another. The sheet steel construction, in combination with the standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6, covers the entire permissible temperature range from -30 to +150 degrees.
The axial bearing is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. The dimensional stability of the components made from 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel and the sheet steel cage is maintained within this range. To ensure trouble-free operation, the selected lubricant must also be approved for the respective operating temperature.
The component is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 standard. This standard tolerance meets the typical requirements for dimensional and running accuracy in general mechanical engineering. Special precision fits or tighter tolerance classes are not usually required for standard industrial applications with this design.
