The FAG 53216 axial deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 80 × 115 × 29.5 mm, accommodates axial loads on one side in mechanical engineering applications.
The 53216 axial deep-groove ball bearing is a separable rolling bearing designed to accommodate axial forces acting in one direction. With an inside diameter of 80 mm, an outside diameter of 115 mm and a height of 29.5 mm, this design is suitable for axial shaft guides. FAG manufactures the bearing components from 100Cr6 bearing steel to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1). A guided sheet steel cage maintains the rolling elements at a uniform spacing and allows operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees.
This rolling bearing guides shafts axially on one side and supports purely axial forces. The design is not intended to accommodate radial loads, which is why users combine the bearing with radial guide bearings. It is typically used in assemblies with thrust forces acting from one side along the axis of rotation. The open design allows the lubricant to be applied directly to the raceways, making it suitable for grease- or oil-lubricated industrial applications.
The housing washer of the 532 series has a spherical contact surface. In combination with a separately available hollow spherical washer, this geometry compensates for misalignment or manufacturing-related skew between the shaft and housing. The scope of supply includes the single-direction bearing without a shim. With rigid, flat-machined connections, the bearing can be fitted directly, whilst in the event of misalignment, the appropriate shim should be fitted.
With a bore of 80 mm, the bearing has an outer diameter of 115 mm and a total width of 29.5 mm. These dimensions comply with the standard dimensions specified for axial bearings of this size and require a perpendicular contact surface on both the shaft and the housing.
As a single-direction axial bearing, this model absorbs only axial forces acting on the shaft flange from a single direction. Due to its design, the bearing cannot transmit radial forces. In a bearing arrangement, a separate radial bearing therefore always provides radial guidance for the shaft.
The scope of supply includes the axial deep-groove ball bearing without a washer. If the housing mounting surface is exactly perpendicular to the shaft axis, no additional washer is required. However, if misalignment occurs, the bearing will only compensate for angular misalignment when used in conjunction with a suitable spherical washer.
The components made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and the sheet steel cage are designed for operating temperatures between –30 and +150 degrees. Within these limits, the discs retain their dimensional stability. For the actual operating temperature, the compatibility of the grease or oil used must be taken into account.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements along their paths and keeps the balls separate from one another. This minimises friction, reduces heat build-up and ensures smooth operation across the entire permissible speed and temperature range.
The P0, PN or ABEC 1 classifications denote the standard tolerance for industrial roller bearings in accordance with international specifications. They define permissible deviations for bore diameter, outer diameter and running accuracy, and meet the usual requirements in general mechanical engineering and plant construction.
