The FAG 52216 double-acting axial deep groove ball bearing accommodates pure axial forces in both directions and supports shafts with a diameter of 65 mm axially.
As a double-acting rolling bearing, the 52216 axial deep-groove ball bearing supports axial forces in both directions. With a bore of 65 mm, an outside diameter of 115 mm and a width of 48 mm, this thrust bearing supports rotating components in the axial direction. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and fitted with a sheet steel cage, the FAG design covers a temperature range from –30 to +150 degrees. Due to its design, it accommodates axial loads only.
This axial deep-groove ball bearing is designed to accommodate purely axial forces with varying load directions in mechanical and plant engineering. As the bearing acts on both sides, it reliably guides the shaft against axial displacement in both directions. The tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 defines the precise dimensional accuracy of the components. This thrust bearing must not absorb radial loads, which is why it must be combined with separate radial bearings.
This model is not angularly adjustable and does not compensate for misalignment between the shaft and the housing. As the design is supplied without spherical washers, the mating parts must be machined at right angles to the axis of rotation. Misalignment errors lead to uneven stresses on the ball sets. Clean, flat surfaces are required during assembly, and the lubricant must be suitable for the operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees.
Due to the design of the bearing, only axial loads are accommodated; however, these are reliably supported from both directions. Radial forces must not act on the double-sided bearing. To accommodate radial loads, separate radial bearings must be incorporated into the design to ensure that the housing and shaft flanges roll in a plane.
With a bore of 65 mm, an outside diameter of 115 mm and a width of 48 mm, the bearing fits onto corresponding shaft sections and housing bores. It is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 for standard industrial applications.
No, the design is not angle-adjustable. The bearing has flat housing washers and is supplied without spherical washers. The contact surfaces on the shaft and housing must be exactly perpendicular to the bearing axis, as angular misalignment leads to uneven loads on the rolling elements.
A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements onto the raceways on both sides. The cage maintains a defined spacing between the balls and prevents direct contact between the rolling elements. The component is designed for the standard operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees.
FAG manufactures bearing washers and balls from hardened standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. The material is characterised by high strength and dimensional stability under rolling loads. Together with the sheet steel cage, the material is specified for use in a temperature range from -30 to +150 degrees.
The bearing is designed for rigid housing constructions with precisely right-angled abutment surfaces. Spherical shims are not required where the mating surfaces are machined to high precision. As the housing washers rest directly against the housing shoulders, the axial space required for the entire assembly is reduced.
