The SKF 51206 axial deep groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 30x52x16 mm, accommodates unidirectional axial forces in mechanical engineering applications.
The SKF 51206 axial deep groove ball bearing is designed for pure axial loads from a single direction. It guides shafts axially and transfers the resulting forces directly to the housing. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and featuring standard tolerances to P0/PN or ABEC 1, this rolling bearing fits precisely into industrial assemblies. You receive a separable bearing whose shaft ring, housing ring and ball cage can be fitted separately.
The 51206 axial deep groove ball bearing is primarily suitable for designs where high axial thrust forces occur and shafts need to be fixed in one direction. As the design is single-acting, no significant radial load must act on the bearing. Typical applications include bearing arrangements subject to purely axial thrust forces, as well as in general gearbox and mechanical engineering. Thanks to the robust sheet steel cage, the ball spacing remains uniform even during continuous rotational movement.
During assembly, the precise alignment of the connecting parts is crucial, as the 51206 axial deep-groove ball bearing is not angularly adjustable. Any misalignment between the shaft axis and the housing axis will result in uneven loading of the raceways. Ensure that the housing washer always rests on a flat surface, as this version does not include a shim. Furthermore, the bore of the shaft washer is slightly narrower than that of the housing washer, which is why you must not mix up the washers when sliding them on.
This axial deep-groove ball bearing has an inner diameter of 30 mm, an outer diameter of 52 mm and an axial height of 16 mm. With these standardised dimensions, the bearing is suitable for shafts with a diameter of 30 mm. It requires little axial space whilst providing stable guidance.
No, axial deep-groove ball bearings are designed exclusively to support axial forces. Radial loads must not be transmitted via this bearing, as the groove geometry is unsuitable for this purpose. If combined loads occur in your application, you must either fit a separate radial bearing or select a combined bearing design.
The bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. Bearing washers, rolling elements made from 100Cr6 bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. For actual continuous operation, you should always check whether the lubricant used is suitable for the temperatures encountered.
The designation P0 or ABEC 1 indicates the standard tolerance for dimensional and running accuracy in rolling bearings. It reflects the general industry standard and reliably covers the vast majority of mechanical applications. Components with this tolerance class ensure a dimensionally accurate fit on standard shafts and in standard housing bores.
This bearing is not designed to be angle-adjustable and features a flat housing flange without a shim. It cannot automatically compensate for misalignment between the shaft and the housing caused by manufacturing or assembly. The mounting surfaces must therefore be machined at right angles to the axis of rotation to prevent edge running and uneven wear on the rolling elements.
Axial deep-groove ball bearings of this type have a modular design. The component consists of a shaft ring, a housing ring and, between them, a ball ring with a sheet steel cage. This separate design makes assembly and inspection within the housing considerably easier, as you can position the individual components on the shaft one after the other and align them precisely.
