The SKF 51201 axial deep groove ball bearing accommodates unidirectional axial loads and, with dimensions of 12x28x11 mm, is suitable for compact designs.
The 51201 axial deep-groove ball bearing provides a separable bearing arrangement for pure axial loads in one direction. The rolling elements run between a shaft ring with a 12 mm bore and a housing ring with an outer diameter of 28 mm. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), this design complies with the standard tolerance P0/PN or ABEC 1. SKF equips this bearing with a robust sheet steel cage that guides the balls precisely.
This rolling bearing provides axial support for rotating shafts when operating forces act exclusively in one direction. Typical applications are found in bearing arrangements in general machinery and equipment construction subject to purely axial forces. By design, this type of bearing cannot accommodate radial forces. In designs involving combined loads, you should therefore combine the axial bearing with a separate radial bearing to support the shaft’s guidance.
As the 512 series is not angularly adjustable, the bearing is sensitive to misalignment. Ensure that the contact surfaces on the shaft and housing are exactly at right angles to avoid edge stresses. The bearing is supplied without a washer and is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. Due to its separable design, fit the shaft ring, ball ring and housing ring one after the other at the designated installation point.
The bearing has a 12 mm bore on the shaft flange, an outer diameter of 28 mm on the housing flange and a height of 11 mm. It therefore takes up very little space in the axial direction.
No, axial deep-groove ball bearings are designed exclusively for axial loads. If additional transverse forces occur during operation, these must be absorbed by a separate radial bearing, such as a deep-groove ball bearing or a needle roller bearing.
Bearing washers and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). The ball race is guided by a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage, which helps to ensure an even distribution of the rolling elements during operation.
The component is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. In addition to the dimensional stability of the roller bearing steel, the lubricant selected for the bearing location is also a key factor in determining the actual operating limit.
The 51201 axial deep-groove ball bearing is not angle-adjustable. The mating surfaces on the shaft and housing must be flat and perpendicular to the axis of rotation, as any misalignment will result in uneven loading of the raceways.
