The FAG 51115 axial deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 75 x 100 x 19 mm, accommodates unilateral axial loads.
The FAG 51115 axial deep-groove ball bearing is designed as a separable rolling bearing for the specific purpose of accommodating single-direction axial forces. The components are made of standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) and are fitted with a sheet steel cage. With a bore of 75 mm, an outside diameter of 100 mm and a height of 19 mm, this design is suitable for assemblies that need to accommodate purely longitudinal forces without any radial load.
This rolling bearing is used for single-sided axial guidance of shafts and spindles in general mechanical engineering. As it is designed to act on one side only, the unit absorbs thrust forces exclusively from one direction. Typical applications include bearing arrangements where axial support is required. Important for the design: The bearing must not be subjected to radial forces, which is why designers divert radial loads via separate bearings.
As the bearing is subject to the standard tolerance P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1) and is not angularly adjustable, installation requires connection surfaces that are precisely at right angles and aligned. Misalignment between the housing and the shaft leads to edge stresses, which accelerate wear. The scope of supply comprises the axial deep-groove ball bearing only, without a washer. For operation, the permissible temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius must be observed, and the lubrication must be adapted to the thermal load.
The main dimensions of the bearing are 75 mm internal diameter (bore), 100 mm external diameter and 19 mm overall height (width). These standardised dimensions allow for direct replacement in existing assemblies with a suitable shaft and housing fit.
No, axial deep-groove ball bearings of this type are designed exclusively for pure axial loads. Radial loads must not act on the bearing, as they will damage the raceways. For combined loads, additional radial bearings must be incorporated into the design.
‘Single-direction’ means that the bearing can only absorb axial forces from a specific direction and, consequently, can only support the shaft on one side. If alternating loads or axial forces acting on both sides occur during operation, double-direction bearings are required.
The components, made from 100Cr6 roller bearing steel with a sheet steel cage, are suitable for a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. For the actual application, care must also be taken to ensure that the lubricant used is approved for the relevant operating temperature.
This design is not angle-adjustable and is sensitive to angular misalignment between the shaft and the housing. This bearing cannot compensate for misalignment. The contact surfaces on the shaft and in the housing must therefore be flat and exactly perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
Manufacturing is carried out to tolerance class P0/PN, which corresponds to ABEC 1. This tolerance class meets the requirements for dimensional and running accuracy in standard mechanical engineering and plant construction.
