The FAG 54212 double-acting axial deep groove ball bearing accommodates pure axial forces in both directions and has dimensions of 50 × 95 × 50 mm.
The FAG 54212 axial deep-groove ball bearing, as a double-acting rolling bearing, accommodates exclusively axial loads from both directions. The design guides shafts axially in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, this bearing retains its dimensional stability within a temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees. Due to its design, this type of bearing must not be subjected to radial forces. The bearing is specifically designed for purely axial guidance tasks.
The 54212 axial deep groove ball bearing is used in bearing arrangements where alternating axial thrust forces occur and the shaft must be guided on both sides. It is used in systems where only axial loads act on the assembly. The bearing arrangement requires separate radial guidance of the shaft, as this bearing does not support radial forces. Where necessary, the series compensates for misalignment, provided it is fitted in conjunction with suitable spherical washers.
This bearing is supplied without washers. If the adjacent structure has angular misalignments due to manufacturing, the component can be combined with spherical washers to compensate for misalignment. If the contact surfaces are machined to a precise right angle, the bearing is fitted directly. The main dimensions are a 50 mm bore, a 95 mm outer diameter and a 50 mm overall height. The version with a sheet steel cage and standard tolerance P0 (ABEC 1) is designed for an operating temperature range between -30 and +150 degrees.
This roller bearing absorbs only axial forces from both directions and supports the shaft on both sides. Due to its design, the bearing cannot transmit radial forces. A separate radial bearing must therefore be incorporated into the design to keep radial loads away from the raceways.
The main dimensions are a bore diameter of 50 mm, an outside diameter of 95 mm and a total width of 50 mm. Before installation, it is advisable to check the installation space on the shaft and housing to ensure that the axial guidance is as intended and that the bearing washers are correctly seated.
This bearing offers angular adjustability thanks to its combination with spherical washers. If the housing mounting surfaces are not at right angles to the shaft axis, the washers compensate for the misalignment. The scope of supply includes the bearing without washers; these must therefore be supplied separately if required.
The bearing, made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel with a sheet steel cage, is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. This operating range requires that the lubricant used complies with the same temperature limits. When selecting a lubricant, the thermal conditions of the specific application must be taken into account.
The P0 designation corresponds to the standard tolerance as defined by international standards and is comparable to the US ABEC Class 1. It defines the permissible dimensional and running accuracies for standard applications in mechanical engineering. This accuracy class is suitable for standard industrial requirements at normal speeds.
FAG fits this bearing with a sheet steel cage. The cage guides the rolling elements along the raceways and maintains a uniform spacing between the balls. Sheet steel cages are designed for standard industrial operation and can withstand operating temperatures of up to +150 degrees.
