The SKF 51215 axial deep groove ball bearing accurately supports unilateral axial loads with a shaft diameter of 75 mm, an outer diameter of 110 mm and a height of 27 mm.
The SKF 51215 axial deep groove ball bearing is designed to support pure axial loads in one direction. The assembly consists of a shaft disc with a 75 mm bore, a housing disc with an 110 mm outer diameter, and a guided rolling element set. As it is manufactured from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the raceways retain their shape even under high loads. This separable bearing unit is used on shaft sections where axial forces are supported separately from radial bearings.
This single-direction axial bearing is designed for applications where high axial thrust forces occur parallel to the shaft axis. As the rolling elements transmit pure shear forces in the longitudinal direction of the shaft, no radial load must act on the bearing rings. To accommodate any transverse forces that may occur, designers combine this unit with a separate radial bearing on the same shaft.
Design engineers must ensure that the contact surfaces on the shaft and housing are precisely perpendicular and flat. The 512 series is not angle-adjustable and is sensitive to misalignment or tilting. This version is single-direction and does not include a separate washer. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. The bearing complies with standard tolerance P0 (ABEC 1) for standardised industrial applications.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 75 mm at the shaft flange, an outside diameter of 110 mm at the housing flange and a total axial width of 27 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised main dimensions for the 512 series.
This bearing design is intended solely to accommodate axial loads acting on the shaft collar from a single direction. Due to its design, the bearing is not intended to accommodate radial loads. Designs therefore require a separate radial bearing on the same shaft to accommodate any transverse forces that may arise.
The permissible operating temperature range for the bearing is between -30 and +150 degrees. Both the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the sheet steel cage are designed for this range. However, when selecting a bearing, users must also take into account the temperature limits of the chosen lubricant.
No, this bearing design does not compensate for misalignment or tilting, as it is not angle-adjustable. The mating surfaces on the housing and shaft must be flat and precisely at right angles to the axis of rotation in order to prevent uneven loading of the rolling elements.
The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0, which corresponds to standard accuracy PN and ABEC 1 classification. This tolerance class meets the usual accuracy requirements in general mechanical engineering and ensures a reliable fit when mounted on the shaft.
The scope of supply includes the single-acting axial deep-groove ball bearing, comprising a shaft washer, a housing washer and the ball set in a sheet steel cage. Washers are not included in the scope of supply. During assembly, the bearing discs can be positioned separately on the shaft and in the housing.
