The SKF 51117 axial deep groove ball bearing is designed to accommodate unidirectional axial loads, with key dimensions of 85 mm bore, 110 mm outside diameter and 19 mm height.
The SKF 51117 axial deep groove ball bearing is designed to support pure axial forces from a single direction. The combination of an 85 mm shaft diameter, a 110 mm outer diameter and a height of 19 mm makes this roller bearing the ideal component for compact axial shaft supports. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), the design complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. The component is used without a washer and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees.
This single-direction axial bearing reliably supports rotating shafts against thrust forces acting exclusively in an axial direction. If radial forces occur in the system, these must be supported by separate radial bearings. The design is suitable for bearing arrangements in general mechanical engineering where axial forces act from one side only. A guided sheet steel cage ensures that the rolling elements are evenly spaced and supports smooth running up to a temperature limit of 150 degrees.
As the 51117 axial deep-groove ball bearing is not angularly adjustable, it requires precisely perpendicular contact surfaces on the shaft and housing. Misalignment between the shaft flange and the housing flange leads to edge stresses, which can cause premature wear of the rolling elements. Precise alignment of the surrounding structure is therefore essential. The shaft flange and housing flange have different fit dimensions; the flange with the 85 mm bore sits tightly on the shaft, whilst the housing flange requires sufficient radial clearance within the housing.
This bearing absorbs high axial forces from a defined direction and supports the shaft on one side. Measuring 85 × 110 × 19 mm, it consists of a shaft disc, a housing disc and a guided ball ring with a sheet steel cage. It cannot accommodate radial forces and must always be axially preloaded or loaded.
The bore for the shaft mounting is 85 mm, the outer diameter of the housing flange is 110 mm and the overall width is 19 mm. The bearing complies with the dimensions of common standard specifications in tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 and is made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel.
No, this version is not angle-adjustable and has flat discs without spherical contact surfaces. This bearing cannot compensate for misalignments or shaft deflection caused during installation. The contact surfaces on the housing shoulder and the shaft must therefore be machined to be exactly parallel to each other and perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
The permissible temperature range is between -30 and +150 degrees Celsius. Both the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. When designing the bearing, you must ensure that the lubricant used meets the same thermal requirements as the application.
‘Single-acting’ means that the bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction. If alternating axial loads occur in both directions during operation, the design requires either a second axial thrust bearing mounted in the opposite direction or the use of a double-acting axial deep groove ball bearing.
The scope of supply comprises only the axial deep-groove ball bearing itself; washers are not included. As the housing washer has a flat contact surface, it rests directly against the housing shoulder. A spherical washer is neither intended nor structurally necessary for this non-angle-adjustable bearing.
