The 52308 axial deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager absorbs axial forces and is designed for shafts with an outer diameter of 78 mm and a width of 49 mm.
The 52308 axial deep-groove ball bearing is a rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel, specifically designed to accommodate axial loads. The assembly has an outer diameter of 78 mm and a width of 49 mm. Thanks to its multi-part design, the shaft ring, housing ring and ball ring can be fitted independently of one another. For maintenance engineers and industrial buyers, this bearing from FAG offers a dimensionally accurate solution for assemblies subject to axial forces acting on one or both sides.
This axial bearing absorbs axial loads and guides shaft components in the longitudinal direction. The design is intended for assemblies in which no radial forces act on the bearing location. Typical applications include bearing arrangements subject to purely axial loads in general mechanical engineering. Maintenance engineers prefer to use the open design in protected housings, where external lubrication with grease or oil continuously supplies the raceways.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements in the raceways and withstands mechanical loads. In combination with standard rolling bearing steel, the bearing unit covers a temperature range from –30 to +150 °C. When selecting a bearing, please note that axial deep-groove ball bearings are sensitive to misalignment. Perpendicular and flat contact surfaces on the housing and shaft help to prevent edge loading and distribute the load evenly across the rolling elements.
This roller bearing absorbs axial forces and supports rotating machine components in the longitudinal direction. It consists of separable bearing discs and a ball ring made from standard roller bearing steel. Thanks to this multi-part design, you can fit the shaft disc, housing disc and rolling element set separately, which makes installation easier during repairs and when fitting new units.
The bearing has an outside diameter of 78 mm and a width of 49 mm. These dimensions determine the installation space required within the housing and along the axis. Before fitting, it is advisable to check these mounting dimensions against the drawing for the relevant assembly.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +150 °C. The roller bearing steel material and the integrated sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. In applications subject to thermal stress, the lubricant used should cover the same range in order to maintain a reliable lubricating film viscosity.
Sheet steel cages maintain a uniform spacing between the rolling elements and prevent the balls from coming into direct contact with one another. They offer high strength whilst being lightweight and are compatible with all standard rolling bearing greases and industrial oils. Furthermore, the sheet steel design retains its dimensional stability up to the upper temperature limit of +150 °C.
Axial deep-groove ball bearings are designed exclusively to accommodate axial forces. They must not be subjected to radial loads, as radial forces cause the rings to tilt and result in uneven rolling of the balls. If combined loads act on the shaft, a separate radial bearing must be used to accommodate the transverse forces.
As an unsealed bearing, the unit requires a supply of lubricant via the surrounding housing. Depending on the application, rolling-element bearing greases or gear oils are suitable. A clean lubricant film reduces friction between the rolling elements and raceways and dissipates the heat generated during operation away from the contact zone.
