The SKF 51311 axial deep groove ball bearing is designed for shafts measuring 55x105x35 mm and accommodates axial loads on one side in mechanical engineering applications.
The SKF 51311 axial deep-groove ball bearing is designed as a single-direction rolling bearing for purely axial loads. Consisting of a shaft ring, a housing ring and a ball-guided sheet steel cage, this component supports shafts in one direction. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), the component offers dimensional stability during operation. As this bearing is designed without a shim, the housing flange lies flush against the housing.
This rolling bearing is suitable for designs in which purely axial forces act in a fixed direction. The bearing does not accommodate radial loads and, when used in an assembly, always requires separate radial support for the shaft. Typical applications include vertical or horizontal shaft mountings with a defined unilateral thrust load. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +150 degrees for standard operation.
As the 51311 design is not angle-adjustable, the mounting surfaces on the housing and shaft must be machined at right angles to the axis of rotation. Misalignment or skew cannot be compensated for with this design, as flat bearing washers are used. The design requires rigid housing walls and clean contact surfaces. With the standard tolerance P0/PN or ABEC 1, the bearing complies with the usual specifications for precision in mechanical engineering.
As a separable axial bearing, the 51311 axial deep-groove ball bearing comprises a shaft washer, a housing washer and a ball-and-cage assembly. It absorbs axial forces in one direction. Manufactured from 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel and featuring an integrated sheet-steel cage, it guides the balls at operating temperatures between –30 and +150 degrees.
With a bore of 55 mm, an external diameter of 105 mm and a height of 35 mm, the component complies with the standardised series. The shaft disc has a ground bore to fit onto the shaft, whilst the housing disc is designed to be wider to allow for contact-free operation within the housing.
Axial deep-groove ball bearings of this type are designed exclusively to support forces in the axial direction. If radial forces occur during operation, these must be absorbed by separate radial bearings in order to prevent impermissible edge loads on the raceways of the axial bearing.
‘Non-angle-adjustable’ means that the bearing cannot compensate for misalignment between the shaft and the housing. Both the shaft and housing washers have flat contact surfaces. The mating surfaces of the surrounding components must be aligned at right angles to the bearing axis in order to prevent uneven load distribution across the rolling elements.
The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN, which corresponds internationally to class ABEC 1. This standard tolerance defines the permissible deviations for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy, and meets the standard technical requirements in mechanical engineering.
The scope of supply includes the axial deep-groove ball bearing without a washer. The housing washer rests directly on the flat surface of the housing. A spherical housing washer with a spherical washer is not included in this version.
