The SKF 7320 BECBM angular contact ball bearing, with a 100 mm bore and a 40-degree contact angle, can accommodate high combined loads.
This single-row angular contact ball bearing, type 7320 BECBM, is manufactured by SKF Rolling Bearings and is designed as an open version without sealing rings. The bearing has an internal diameter of 100 mm, an external diameter of 215 mm and a width of 47 mm. Thanks to the standard 100Cr6 bearing steel and its manufacture to the SKF Explorer performance class, the unit can cope with demanding operating conditions in industrial bearing arrangements.
The bearing accommodates radial loads as well as unilateral axial forces. Owing to the steep contact angle of 40 degrees, the design transmits considerable axial forces along the line of action. Its primary applications are shaft mountings subject to high combined loads, where precise axial guidance accuracy is required. The 7320 BECBM angular contact ball bearing is designed for continuous thermal operation within a range of –20 to +150 degrees.
The integrated brass cage guides the rolling elements precisely, even at higher speeds or under vibration loads. Furthermore, this design offers increased accuracy with a dimensional tolerance of P6 and a running tolerance of P5. The CB version allows for installation in pairs: in an O or X arrangement, the bearing set provides a defined, minimal axial clearance. This eliminates the need for manual fitting of spacer rings when assembling bearing pairs.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 100 mm, an outside diameter of 215 mm and a total width of 47 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither flanges nor retaining grooves.
The contact angle describes the inclination of the line connecting the points of contact between the ball and the raceways relative to the radial plane. An angle of 40 degrees gives the bearing a particularly high axial load-carrying capacity in one direction, whilst simultaneously transmitting radial forces.
The letter combination indicates design features: B stands for the 40-degree pressure angle, E for an optimised internal design. CB indicates universal compatibility with low axial play in O or X configurations, whilst M denotes the solid brass cage.
As the 7320 BECBM angular contact ball bearing is supplied without sealing washers, the level of protection is determined by the lubricant and the housing seal of the parent assembly. Depending on the design specifications, the bearing can be operated with grease or lubricating oil. The rolling bearing is designed for ambient temperatures between -20 and +150 degrees.
These classes describe the precision of the rolling bearing. Dimensional accuracy P6 implies tighter manufacturing tolerances for the bore, outer diameter and width than the standard specification. Running accuracy P5 ensures low-vibration, precise concentricity of the rings in the operating shaft assembly.
The bearing is designed for installation in pairs. If two of these bearings are fitted directly opposite each other in an O or X configuration, a small amount of axial play will automatically develop without shims. This pairing accommodates axial forces in both directions.
