The SKF 7315 BEP angular contact ball bearing, with a 75 mm bore and a 40-degree contact angle, is designed to support combined radial and axial loads.
This single-row angular contact ball bearing, type 7315 BEP, is designed as an open rolling bearing unit for demanding industrial applications. Its internal geometry is specifically designed to accommodate radial forces as well as single-sided axial forces. Thanks to the use of 100Cr6 standard rolling bearing steel and manufacture to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), the component is suitable for shaft support in general mechanical engineering.
Design engineers primarily use this angular contact ball bearing where high radial forces coincide with unidirectional axial forces. The contact angle of 40 degrees ensures effective force transmission in the axial direction. Typical applications are found in industrial plant with shaft guides subjected to combined loads. As the bearing only accommodates axial forces from one direction, it is usually installed in machinery as a pair of bearings mounted opposite each other, together with a second bearing.
The BEP design combines the 40-degree contact angle with a lightweight, noise-dampening polyamide cage. The cage guides the rolling elements with minimal vibration and withstands operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees. As this is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers, the design requires the bearing housing to be sealed externally. This allows you to choose between oil or grease lubrication, depending on your operational maintenance intervals.
Key features include the single-row design with an outer ring without a flange or groove, and a contact angle of 40 degrees for accommodating unilateral axial forces. An integrated polyamide cage guides the rolling elements. The bearing is made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel with standard radial clearance and complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
With a bore of 75 mm, an outside diameter of 160 mm and a width of 37 mm, this angular contact ball bearing complies with standardised mounting dimensions. These dimensions allow it to be used on cylindrical shaft seats and in housing bores in industrial mechanical engineering.
The contact angle describes the inclination of the line connecting the points where the ball contacts the raceways relative to the radial plane. A nominal contact angle of 40 degrees gives the bearing increased axial load-carrying capacity in one direction, whilst simultaneously supporting radial forces.
A temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees is permitted for operation. One of the key factors determining this limit is the polyamide cage used, which remains elastic and dimensionally stable within this temperature range. When selecting a lubricant, care must be taken to ensure it is suitable for the relevant temperature range.
As the bearing is supplied from the factory without seals, you must select the appropriate lubricant to suit the surrounding structure. You can either fill the rolling bearing with grease or incorporate it into an oil circulation system. The surrounding housing must be fitted with suitable external seals to prevent the lubricant from leaking out.
