The SKF 7309 BECBP single-row angular contact ball bearing, with a 45 mm bore and a 40-degree contact angle, provides precise guidance for combined loads.
As a single-row rolling bearing, the SKF 7309 BECBP angular contact ball bearing simultaneously accommodates radial forces and single-direction axial forces. With key dimensions of a 45 mm bore, 100 mm outside diameter and 25 mm width, this type is suitable for demanding bearing arrangements with normal radial clearance. The open component, made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel, is designed for use in lubricated systems. A dimensionally stable polyamide cage reliably keeps the rolling elements spaced apart and helps to ensure low operating noise during operation.
The design is specifically engineered to accommodate high axial forces in combination with radial forces. Thanks to the steep nominal contact angle of 40 degrees, the bearing effectively withstands unidirectional thrust forces. As a single angular contact ball bearing can only transmit axial forces in one direction, in practice it is often mounted in pairs with a complementary bearing. The Explorer version allows direct pairing in an O or X arrangement, in which a small amount of axial clearance is established as a matched bearing pair.
The polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight and is designed for an operating temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees. It ensures smooth guidance of the rolling elements whilst minimising inertia. High running precision is ensured by dimensional accuracy to Class P6 and running accuracy to Class P5. As the outer ring has no flange or groove, the bearing can be fitted cylindrically into the surrounding housing.
A single-row angular contact ball bearing of the 7309 series has raceways that are offset at an angle in both the inner and outer rings. This enables it to transmit radial loads as well as axial forces in one direction. The BECBP variant combines a contact angle of 40 degrees with a lightweight polyamide cage and is designed for installation in pairs.
The roller bearing has an inner diameter of 45 mm, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has no flange or groove. These defined basic dimensions serve as a fixed basis when designing the shaft and bearing seat.
The contact angle describes the line along which the contact forces between the ball and the raceway act. A nominal contact angle of 40 degrees enables a high axial load capacity whilst also providing good absorption of radial forces. The steeper this angle, the more effectively the rolling bearing supports axial forces on the shaft.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures between -20 and +120 degrees. The upper limit is largely determined by the dimensionally stable polyamide cage. Within this temperature range, the cage material retains its elastic properties, ensuring that the rolling elements are guided reliably even during rapid changes in rotational speed.
Due to the manufacturing process, open angular contact ball bearings do not have integrated seals or cover plates. This design allows the lubricant circulating within the machine housing to reach the balls and raceways unimpeded. An external housing seal must be fitted to protect against dirt and moisture.
The bearing is designed so that two units can be mounted directly opposite one another. When arranged in an O- or X-shape, this automatically results in a defined, minimal axial clearance. With this system, no additional shims or adjusting rings are required in the bearing seat to set the bearing clearance.
