The FAG 7214 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing, with dimensions of 70 × 125 × 24 mm, a 40-degree contact angle and a brass cage, offers high axial and radial load-carrying capacity.
The 7214 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel 100Cr6, with dimensions of 70 mm bore, 125 mm outer diameter and 24 mm width. FAG manufactures this bearing in the standard version with an open design and normal radial clearance. Thanks to its flanged design and a contact angle of 40 degrees, the bearing can accommodate both radial loads and single-sided axial forces. The solid brass cage guides the rolling elements in an orderly manner within the raceway, even under thermal loads ranging from –20 to +150 degrees.
Design engineers and maintenance technicians prefer to use the 7214 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing in bearing arrangements where high radial forces are combined with unidirectional axial loads. Typical applications include combined-load bearing arrangements and shaft guides in general mechanical engineering. As this is an open bearing, the grease or lubricating oil can be flexibly adapted to the specific design. For axial forces acting from both sides, this single-row bearing is usually combined with a mirror-image counter-bearing.
The suffix ‘B’ denotes the 40-degree contact angle. This angle distributes the applied forces obliquely across the rolling elements and allows high axial forces to be accommodated in one direction. The designation ‘MP’ stands for a guided solid brass cage. Brass is characterised by high strength and favourable emergency running properties. Compared with standard sheet metal cages, this material resists mechanical vibrations and is designed for a temperature range of –20 to +150 degrees.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 70 mm, an outer diameter of 125 mm and a width of 24 mm. It is a single-row bearing with no flange or groove on the outer ring. Before installation, it is advisable to check the mating dimensions of the shaft and housing to ensure a correct bearing fit.
The contact angle describes the inclination of the line connecting the points of contact between the balls and raceways relative to the radial plane. At an angle of 40 degrees, indicated by the suffix ‘B’, the rolling bearing accommodates particularly high axial forces in one direction. Radial forces are transmitted simultaneously.
The abbreviation MP stands for a solid brass cage that guides the balls with precision. Brass cages offer greater mechanical stability than sheet metal cages and exhibit favourable damping behaviour in the event of shocks or vibrations. Furthermore, the material is designed for an operating temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees.
As an open roller bearing, this version does not have any integrated sealing washers. You can lubricate the bearing with either lubricating oil or grease, depending on the application. Protection against dirt and moisture is provided by external sealing elements on the surrounding housing. This allows you to select the lubricant that best suits the operating temperature.
FAG manufactures this bearing to the standard tolerance class P0 (also known as standard tolerance PN or ABEC 1). This accuracy class fully meets the standard requirements in general mechanical and plant engineering. It defines the dimensional accuracy of bore, outer and width dimensions for standard industrial use.
Due to its design, a single-row angular contact ball bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction. If alternating or bidirectional axial loads occur during operation, a second bearing is fitted in an O or X configuration in the opposite direction. In this way, the two bearings support each other and accommodate axial forces in both directions.
