Angular Contact Ball B. SKF 7209 BEP

The SKF 7209 BEP angular contact ball bearing accommodates radial loads as well as high axial loads on one side and has main dimensions of 45 × 85 × 19 mm.

The 7209 BEP angular contact ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing made from standard rolling-element steel (100Cr6) with a standard radial clearance. Thanks to the raceways of the inner and outer rings being offset at an angle to one another, the bearing specifically accommodates combined loads at a contact angle of 40 degrees. The open design without sealing washers allows lubricants to pass freely through the housing, but requires a clean installation environment.

In which installation situations is the 7209 BEP angular contact ball bearing used?

This rolling bearing is used where radial forces coincide with axial loads acting from one side. As single-row angular contact ball bearings, by design, can only accommodate axial loads in one direction, in practice they are predominantly mounted in pairs or in conjunction with a second rolling bearing. This arrangement supports alternating or forces acting from both sides and provides the necessary guidance for the rotating shaft during operation.

What advantages do the 40-degree contact angle and the polyamide cage offer?

The nominal contact angle of 40 degrees gives the bearing arrangement a high axial load-carrying capacity whilst ensuring stable raceway guidance. The BEP version is fitted with a lightweight polyamide cage. This cage material dampens movements, reduces friction on the rolling elements and is designed for operating temperatures between –20 and +120 degrees. The bearing, which has no groove or flange on the outer ring, is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1).

What makes the 7209 BEP angular contact ball bearing stand out?

The model is a single-row angular contact ball bearing with a 45 mm bore, an 85 mm outer diameter and a width of 19 mm. The suffix BEP indicates an internal design with a contact angle of 40 degrees and a polyamide cage. The open bearing, made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel, accommodates combined loads with an axial force direction.

What are the dimensions of bearing 7209 BEP?

The component has an internal diameter of 45 mm, an external diameter of 85 mm and a total width of 19 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical, with no flange or groove. These dimensions comply with the standardised metric series 72 for roller bearings.

What effect does a print angle of 40 degrees have?

The contact angle describes the line of action of the forces between the raceways and the balls in relation to the radial plane. A contact angle of 40 degrees effectively absorbs axial loads. As a result, the design dissipates axial forces in a defined direction with high rigidity.

What are the properties of the polyamide cage?

The cage separates the rolling elements and prevents them from coming into contact with one another during operation. Polyamide is characterised by its low weight and favourable friction coefficients. The material is designed for use in a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees.

How is the 7209 open angular contact ball bearing lubricated?

As an open design without sealing washers, the component requires an external lubricant supply via the surrounding bearing assembly. Depending on the operating conditions, lubrication is carried out using grease or rolling-element bearing oil. Housing seals protect the bearing against the ingress of contaminants.

What is the bearing’s tolerance class?

This SKF roller bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 (corresponding to PN according to DIN and ABEC 1). Its dimensional and geometric accuracies therefore fall within the tolerances required for standard mechanical engineering applications.
