The FAG 7315 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing, with a 75 mm bore and a 40-degree contact angle, is designed to handle combined loads.
The 7315 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing for industrial applications. FAG manufactures this model from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with the main dimensions of 75 mm inner diameter and 160 mm outer diameter, with a width of 37 mm. Thanks to the angular arrangement of the raceways, the bearing accommodates radial forces as well as unidirectional axial forces. The open design without seals allows for direct lubricant supply via the surrounding housing system.
Design engineers use this bearing when radial forces and high axial loads in one direction occur simultaneously. Typical applications include shaft mountings with combined loads in general mechanical engineering. As single-row angular contact ball bearings can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, they are usually fitted opposite a second bearing or as a matched bearing pair to achieve guidance on both sides.
The brass cage guides the rolling elements under thermal demands and demanding operating conditions. The bearing covers a temperature range from –20 to +150 degrees. The 40-degree contact angle gives the B series high axial load-carrying capacity. Together with the standard tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) and normal radial clearance, the component forms the basis for guided shaft bearings.
The bearing has a bore of 75 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 37 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a groove, which allows for straightforward mounting in the housing. These dimensions define the required installation space in the design.
The contact angle describes the inclination of the line connecting the points of contact between the ball and the raceways relative to the radial plane. An angle of 40 degrees facilitates the absorption of high axial forces in one direction. This makes the bearing particularly suitable for applications involving predominantly axial loads in combination with radial forces.
The suffix ‘MP’ indicates a brass cage. Brass is characterised by its dimensional stability and good sliding properties. The material can withstand mechanical stresses and higher operating temperatures, which is why it is used in demanding operating conditions.
As this is an open bearing without sealing washers, no lubricant is applied at the factory. During operation, the bearing requires an external supply of suitable grease or lubricating oil. Furthermore, the open design necessitates external sealing elements at the housing to protect against dirt and moisture.
The 7315 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of between -20 and +150 degrees. The components made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the brass cage retain their dimensional stability within this range. When designing the bearing mounting, care must be taken to ensure that the selected lubricant is approved for the same temperature range.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or PN (comparable to ABEC 1) and has a standard radial clearance. This standard design meets the typical requirements of industrial machinery and plant engineering. The actual operating clearance is determined by the fit selected for the shaft and the axial preload in the assembly.
