The E20-TVP angular contact ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager accommodates combined radial and single-direction axial loads whilst maintaining compact dimensions of 20 × 47 × 12 mm.
The E20-TVP angular contact ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 20 mm, an outer diameter of 47 mm and a width of 12 mm. This open bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings features a dimensionally stable polyamide cage and standard radial clearance. Thanks to the raceways in the inner and outer rings being arranged at an angle to one another, the design supports radial forces together with axial forces in one direction. This design is primarily used where standard radial ball bearings can no longer accommodate the axial component of the load.
This single-row bearing is primarily used in shaft mountings where, in addition to radial forces, defined axial forces act in one direction. Common applications can be found in general mechanical engineering as well as in designs subject to combined loads. As this is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers, lubrication must be provided via a lubrication system or a protected housing. The standard tolerance P0/PN version meets common industrial requirements for concentricity and dimensional accuracy.
The built-in polyamide cage (suffix TVP) is characterised by low friction and smooth running. When designing the bearing, the permissible temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees must be taken into account, as plastics are more sensitive to overheating than sheet steel. The bearing has a standard radial clearance and an outer ring without a flange or groove. Correct alignment is crucial during installation, as single-row angular contact ball bearings can only accommodate axial forces in the direction of the thrust shoulder.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 20 mm, an outside diameter of 47 mm and a width of 12 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow for direct replacement in compatible bearing seats. The roller bearing is manufactured from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel to tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1).
The designation TVP refers to a polyamide cage that guides the rolling elements. Polyamide cages reduce the moving mass and contribute to low-vibration operation. They are designed for continuous operating temperatures between -20 and +120 degrees, but are not suitable for applications involving aggressive lubricants.
A single-row angular contact ball bearing transmits axial loads in only one direction via the higher shoulder of the raceway. To accommodate axial forces acting in both directions, you must install a second bearing in a mirror-image configuration. This also allows the desired operating clearance or preload to be precisely adjusted once the bearing is installed.
As the bearing has neither cover plates nor sealing washers, lubricant reaches the balls and raceways unimpeded. You can choose to use either grease or oil. Sealing against dirt and moisture is provided by the surrounding housing structure, for example by means of external sealing elements.
Tolerance class P0, comparable to ABEC 1, corresponds to the standard dimensional and running accuracy for industrial roller bearings. It fully meets the requirements of general mechanical engineering. The usual fit recommendations set out in the standards for standard accuracy levels apply to the bearing seats on the shaft and housing.
This roller bearing has an operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. The main limiting factor here is the polyamide cage, whose material properties may change at higher temperatures. Within these limits, the material retains its strength and elasticity.
