CARB toroidal roller bearings combine the angular movement of the self-aligning roller bearing with the axial displacability of a cylinder roller bearing.
This type of bearing can be used exclusively for floating bearings and compensates thermal expansion and misalignment of the shaft effectively without friction. CARB bearings are single-row bearings with relatively long spherical rollers.
An example: Bearings using a CARB bearing as a loose bearing and a self-aligning roller bearing on the fixed bearing side can be implemented to save both space and weight. The maintenance requirements are mostly very low.
